Build your own brick-built model of the Space Launch System (SLS) - NASA's Moon rocket!

This is a recreation of NASA's Space Launch System (abbreviated SLS) built at 1:110 scale, the same scale as the LEGO® Saturn V set! The model is incredibly detailed and scale-accurate in everything from the exterior dimensions to details. It's available in three different configurations, all of which are included in the purchase:

The currently operating Block 1 stands 89,4 cm (35 in) tall and consists of 2786 pieces that cost around $200 (excl. shipping).

The largest model, Block 1B Crew, stands 101.4 cm (40 in) tall and consists of 3417 pieces that cost around $240 (excl. shipping).

The Block 1B Cargo stands 90.1 cm (35.5 in) tall and consists of 3306 parts that cost around $230 (excl. shipping).

You can use the complete part list for each variant or pick and choose between the 7 components to build the configurations you prefer. The bricks are bought separately following the "How to buy the bricks" section below.

The models feature:

  • A very sturdy construction with strong connections between the stages.
  • Detailed second-stage tanks and engine sections.
  • Orion spacecraft and European Service Module for the crew variants.
  • Hollow and spacious payload fairing for the Block 1B cargo variant.
  • Raceways, fueling ports, and a lot more for you to explore!

The digital building instructions you'll receive with your purchase are high-quality and easy to follow, even for less experienced builders.

Learn more about the Space Launch System:

The Space Launch System is NASA's super heavy-lift launch vehicle. Its development began in 2011, with the primary design considerations aimed at supporting deep-space missions. Its first flight was on November 16, 2022, when it launched the Orion spacecraft to the Moon for the Artemis I mission. In the future, this rocket will launch astronauts for the lunar missions of the Artemis program. The current Block 1 version will be upgraded to the Block 1B configuration, which significantly increases the rocket's performance and enables the launch of additional payloads, such as elements for the Gateway space station, alongside the Orion spacecraft.

How to build the SLS model:

The 3 SLS configurations are made up of a combination of 7 different components. Each component has a separate instruction booklet which corresponds to the same number on the part list.

You can either choose to use the complete part lists for each of the 3 configurations, or you pick and choose freely between the 7 components to build your preferred configurations. If you choose to buy all 7 components you'll be able to reconfigure your model into all three configurations (requires a total of 4208 pieces). The part lists are included as a separate folder in the download.

Use this guide and the corresponding figures to help you pick which booklets and part list you will need to build your SLS model:

#1 - Solid Rocket Boosters

#2 - Core stage

#3 - Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage

#4 - Orion spacecraft

#5 - Exploration Upper Stage

#6 - Universal Stage Adapter

#7 - 8.4 meter wide Cargo fairing

How to buy the bricks

I recommend buying the pieces required for the model through, which is the largest online marketplace for LEGO® parts sellers.

There are other alternatives, like the official LEGO® Pick a Brick site, but they rarely have all the required pieces and it's often more expensive there.

The process to buy from Bricklink is easier than it seems, and is explained thoroughly in this step-by-step guide to help you:

  1. After buying the product, you need to download the folder named "Part lists" and unzip it.
  2. Choose the part lists you want to buy using the guide in the "How to build the SLS" section above.
  3. Next go to and create an account, it's very easy to set up.
  4. Click on the "Want" tab in the top right corner and "Create New List".
  5. Once you've done that, click on the upload button and drag and drop the part lists you want to include in the order. Then click the blue "Proceed to verify items" button.
Repeat step 5 for each part list you want to order.
  6. Optional step if you only want new pieces and as a consequence pay a little bit more: Select all the pieces and change their "Condition" to "New" (needs to be repeated for each page). The default option gives you a price around the estimate and will include both new and used bricks.
  7. Next click the green "Buy All" button and then adjust the settings to your preference. For lower shipping costs, I recommend beginning by choosing your region/country first and only change it if the pieces aren't available there.
  8. Once that's done, click the blue "Auto-select" button, uncheck the box in the pop-up and click "Start".
  9. This will give you a list of stores whose orders together will include all of the pieces in your wanted list. Confirm that all the pieces are included by clicking the "Wanted Items" tab to the left and control that there aren't any pieces left there.
  10. If you are happy with the selection and price, click "Create carts", followed by "Checkout" for each individual store and buy the pieces!
(If you are not happy with the price or if you're missing any pieces, you can click "Remove All" and redo the auto-selection with different settings)

If you're having any issues with ordering your pieces, don't hesitate to send us a message through the "Contact us" tab in the menu and we'll do out best to help!
